A Day at The Trinity School

“Education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life”-Charlotte Mason

Our school day is structured to take advantage of the natural rhythms of a child’s day. Disciplinary subjects requiring the greatest concentration are scheduled for mid-morning, when children are usually most refreshed. We also alternate between disciplinary subjects like mathematics, penmanship, phonics, or grammar, and inspirational subjects like Bible, history, literature or science so that the children are able to enjoy the refreshment variety brings,

We believe the daily practice of the principles below form a child “fully alive.”

  • Education is a feast of living ideas

Education is not just facts we memorize for a test. We seek to cultivate a lifelong learner that is rooted in true, good and beautiful ideas. It is important to know information but but curiosity is driven by the ideas surrounding that information.*

  • Habit formation is helping a child live a life of study

The learning atmosphere is marked by order and structure. Structure and habits must be in place for the next layer of learning to begin. Habits also form us spiritually, for example, teachers and students all begin each day with morning prayer to center our learning and remember that in all that we do we are seeking to know and experience the fullness of God with us.

  • Classical literature offers the intellectual foundation of a noble life

We want to expose and enrich students to seek and learn from true, good and timeless authors. For example our students read and study books such as King Arthur in Form 3.

  • Spiritual formation is lifelong growth in unity with the Triune God

We believe all truth comes through relationship. Students understand their place by building relationships with God, self, others and creation.

  • Parents as Primary educators

We believe that children are a gift and God has given parents a special and unique role in raising children. We seek to come alongside and partner with parents in shepherding and helping children grow in character, wisdom and knowledge. Our teachers work in partnership with parents and under the guide of the Holy Spirit. Our teachers are continually growing and learning. They are trained using Charlotte Mason’s methods of narration to fuel a child’s growth. They are role models in the habits they have developed and in their continued love of learning.
